Arbaaz Khan accepts IPL betting scam charges

Mumbai: The Thane police had summoned Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan in connection with an IPL betting scam, reports Times Now. Arbaaz, 50, was summoned on the Friday afternoon. Recently, police had busted a betting racket and had arrested Sonu Jalan, a 42-year old bookie, who reportedly operated in India and abroad

Arbaaz accepts charges

Arbaaz Khan was summoned by Pradeep Sharma, a Senior Inspector and Encounter Specialist of Anti Extortion Cell of Thane Police. On Saturday, Arbaaz appeared before Pradeep Sharma. Arbaaz and bookie Sonu Jalan were interrogated and questioned face-to-face. During the interrogation, Arbaaz accepted that he did the betting through Sonu Jalan.

Sonu Jalan arrested

Jalan’s arrest was made from Kalyan court in Mumbai. He was there to meet one of the arrested accused in the same case. Reportedly, the bookie met this person to inquire about the investigations into the IPL case. As soon as police got information, the officers were alerted and a trap was laid to arrest Jalan. It was during the investigation, Arbaaz Khan’s alleged involvement with the betting ring came to light.

Many Bollywood celebrities are said to be associated with Jalan, who was first arrested in 2008 for betting during IPL. Times Now has exclusively accessed pictures of Jalan with Arbaaz Khan.
