Pilibhit: In a year-old obdurate murder of a six-year-old boy by a drug addict in Amaria town of Pilibhit that had resemblance with the infamous Nithari serial killings, the court of additional district judge Sanjeev Shukla awarded death sentence to accused Nazim Mian (30) on Tuesday.

The killer had skinned the boy, chopped his body into pieces and consumed some of them. The horrifying crime took place on February 21, 2017. Officials said that the incident took place around 12.45 pm in Kuraishiyan locality of Amaria town on February 21 last year. Monis Qureshi (6) had gone missing from outside his house and his family was frantically looking for him. Someone told them that the boy was seen with Nazim Mian. The killer was caught from an abandoned building in the locality by a group of locals who were out to rescue the boy.

Mian was handed over to police and an FIR was lodged against him under IPC section 302 (murder). However, he did not disclose the motive behind his crime and police later found out that he was a drug addict. According to the police report, the killer had first attempted to sexually abuse the boy, but when the latter resisted, he killed him.
One of the lawyers of the bereaved family, Hemant Mishra, said, “Police had produced evidence in court to prove that Mian had consumed parts of the child’s body. Even Monis’ autopsy report stated that some of his body parts were missing. I have been practising for many years but haven’t come across such a case.”
Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased’s Baby Qureshi and  Moin Qureshi breathed a sigh of relief on Tuesday and said that their son had been given justice.
